Unemployed call for job action

As a college student, it is inevitable that my future job plans are always in the back of my mind. Job Action Day is Nov. 7. This day was created to encourage those without jobs to consider their options and develop their skills and those with jobs to examine their careers, goals, and opportunities.

With the news buzzing about unemployment, the economy, and most recently, Occupy Wall Street, it can be hard to keep up with everything that is going on…

New data shows that only 48 percent of the unemployed are receiving benefits, last year it was 75 percent. The unemployment crisis continues, but the number of people receiving benefits declines. Regardless of personal opinions on unemployment, there is a problem that demands a solution.

As a student who will enter the “real world” in a few short years, all the statistics and stories can be a little worrying. The thought of not being able to find a job as after graduating is scary, but Job Action Day is a great reminder to set goals and make plans. If you’re a planner like I am, this is a great idea.
