I am almost always smiling. I do not mean to smile all the time. I just do. While checking out at a store, I once had a cashier tell me he had never seen someone smile as much as I did. Still smiling, I just laughed at his comment and said, “People tell me that all the time…”
Despite my love of smiling, news was something that very rarely made me smile as a kid. I thought it was plain boring. It was not until I came to college that I began to follow the news. I started to realize the importance of knowing what was going on in the world we live in. Coming to this conclusion, I began to make an effort to become more aware of what was going on in the news.
Although I am no longer a kid, I still struggle with finding the news to be boring. I began to think about what I find to be interesting and remembered my love for little-known holidays. Almost everyday there is a holiday that very few people know about. If I could combine a holiday with a news story, I could create something that is sure to interest me.
